The Fighting Irish Baseball team dropped a tough 8–7 contest to Brunswick High School on Monday, March 30th. The Irish battled throughout but ultimately came up just short against the Blue Devils.
On the mound, the Irish were led by Sophomore Aidan Reynolds and Senior Joseph Danzy, who each pitched 3.1 innings. Danzy recorded three strikeouts, while Reynolds added two, as both pitchers worked to keep the Irish within striking distance.
Offensively, the Irish turned in several strong performances at the plate. Junior Matthew Engelhart went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs, and a stolen base. Sophomore Alex Slone contributed by going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs scored. Senior Rylan Hurley also had a solid day, finishing 2-for-4 with a double, two runs, and an RBI.
The Irish will look to bounce back in their next matchup against Uniontown Lake High School at Skeeles Field on the campus of the University of Akron. First pitch is scheduled for 5:15 PM.
