Girls Basketball Dominates on Senior Day

The Fighting Irish girls basketball team delivered a dominant performance from start to finish in a victory over Chippewa High School on Saturday, February 7th.

The afternoon began with an impressive showing from the junior varsity squad, which rolled to a 55-17 win over the Indians. Freshman Aubrey Jackson led the way with an outstanding effort, scoring 22 points in just two quarters of action.

Following the JV contest, the program took time to honor its two seniors, Tatum Smith and Stephany Lindsey, in a special Senior Day ceremony. Both seniors were recognized for their leadership and contributions to Irish basketball and were featured in the starting lineup for the varsity matchup.

The varsity team continued the momentum, controlling the game from the opening tip on the way to a 65-34 victory. Junior Melania Cornute finished with 23 points with an impressive shooting percentage of 8/9 from the field and 7/7 from the free throw line. With the win, the Irish improved their record to 15-5 on the season.

The girls will close out the regular season on Monday, February 9th at LeBron James Arena against Greensburg Central Catholic. The evening will begin with the JV game at 6:00 PM, followed by varsity at 7:30 PM.
