The Fighting Irish Baseball team opened their season in impressive fashion, earning a win in their home opener against Barberton High School on Saturday, March 28th.
The Irish offense was balanced and effective, with eight different players recording at least one hit. Senior Quinn Yori led the way, going 1-for-3 with three RBIs. Senior Joseph Danzy, Sophomore Alex Slone, Sophomore Aiden Reynolds, and Sophomore Brady Whitney each crossed the plate for the Irish.
As a team, the Irish hit .310 and showed strong plate discipline, striking out just twice compared to ten strikeouts by Barberton.
On the mound, Junior Will Tober delivered a standout performance, pitching 6.1 innings while allowing just three hits, no runs, and recording nine strikeouts. Sophomore Aiden Reynolds closed out the game, pitching the final two outs. Full team stats can be found here.
The Irish now look ahead to a busy two-game week. They will travel to Brunswick High School on Monday, March 30th for a 5:00 PM first pitch, followed by a matchup against Lake High School on Thursday, April 2nd at the University of Akron, scheduled for 5:15 PM.
