Boys Track and Field Competes at the OHSAA Division II State Championship Semi-Finals

The Fighting Irish Boys Track & Field team competed in the OHSAA Division II State Championships semifinals at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium on Saturday, June 6, with multiple athletes earning the opportunity to compete for state podium finishes.

Hurdler Ali Hann advanced to the Division II State Finals in the 110-meter hurdles, placing seventh overall in the semifinals with a time of 14.53. Hann will now compete among the nine fastest hurdlers in Division II as he races for a spot on the state podium.

The Irish also qualified for the state finals in the 4×100-meter relay. The team of Semaj Haley, Ali Hann, Elijah Chapman, and DeCarlo Prince clocked a time of 42.51, finishing eighth overall to secure a place in Sunday’s championship race.

In individual competition, senior DeCarlo Prince placed 16th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.02, closing out another strong performance during an outstanding season.

Following a weather delay, the Division II 200-meter dash was postponed and converted to a timed-final event scheduled for Sunday, June 7. Prince remains in contention and will have the opportunity to compete for a podium finish in one of the state’s premier sprint events. This event will begin at 1:00pm.

The Fighting Irish will return to Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium on Sunday for the state finals at 1:00pm, with opportunities to earn All-Ohio honors in each of the events in which they qualified. More information on the OHSAA State Championships can be found here.
