Fighting Irish Baseball Defeat Hawken, Capture Second Straight District Championship

The Fighting Irish Baseball team captured the OHSAA Division III District Championship with a victory over Hawken on Thursday, May 28th. With the win, the Irish secured their second consecutive District Championship title and continued their impressive postseason run.

Leading the way on the mound was Aidan Reynolds, who delivered a dominant complete-game performance for the Irish. Reynolds pitched all seven innings, allowing zero runs while holding Hawken to a .250 on-base average and finishing with a 0.00 ERA on the day.

At the plate, the Irish offense came through in key moments. Matt Engelhart and Rylan Hurley paced the lineup, with Engelhart recording one run scored and two RBI, while Hurley added three RBI of his own. Engelhart also turned in an outstanding defensive performance, finishing a perfect eight-for-eight on total chances and putouts in the field. Full game statistics can be found here.

The Irish now advance to the Regional Semi-Final, where they will face Archbishop Hoban at Hudson High School on Wednesday, June 3rd. First pitch is scheduled for 5:00 PM. Hoban finished the regular season with a record of 20-5. They have gotten wins against Akron Garfield, Kent Roosevelt, and Westlake on their way to the Regional Semi-Final.
