On Saturday, January 24, the St. Vincent–St. Mary Fighting Irish Girls Basketball program traveled to Strasburg High School to take on the Tigers, with both the junior varsity and varsity squads earning victories.
The JV team set the tone with a hard-fought 39–30 win. In a competitive matchup, the Irish pulled away down the stretch and closed out the game strong to secure the road victory.
Varsity followed with an impressive 45–29 win. The Irish jumped out to an early 15–5 lead after the first quarter and carried a 20–14 advantage into halftime. Maintaining control throughout the contest, the Irish held a 26–19 lead entering the fourth quarter before pulling away with a dominant final frame, outscoring Strasburg 19–10 to seal the win.
The Irish will return to action on Wednesday, January 28, when they host Gilmour Academy at LeBron James Arena. Junior varsity will tip off at 6:00 p.m., followed by varsity at 7:30 p.m.
