The Fighting Irish girls basketball team posted a split record during its weekend trip to Cincinnati on December 27 and 28.
On Saturday, December 27, the Irish faced Nazareth Regional High School (Brooklyn, New York). Despite a strong effort, St. Vincent–St. Mary fell by a narrow margin, 44–38. Junior Melania Cornute led the Irish with an all-around performance, recording 18 points, six assists, and six rebounds. Junior Taylor Miller added seven points in the loss.
The Irish responded on Sunday with an impressive victory over Ryle High School (Union, Kentucky). Behind a career-best performance from Cornute, St. Vincent–St. Mary earned a 59–49 win. Cornute finished the game with a career-high 31 points, along with 10 rebounds and 8 assists. The win improved the Irish’s season record to 7–2.
The Irish return to action on Saturday, January 3, when they host Bishop Hartley in the LeBron James Arena. The junior varsity game is scheduled for 12:30 PM, followed by the varsity contest at 2:00 PM
