The Fighting Irish Girls Track & Field team wrapped up an outstanding season at the OHSAA Division III Regional Championships on Saturday, May 30, at Austintown Fitch High School, competing against some of the top athletes in Ohio.
Senior Jane Porter led the way for the Irish in the 100-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 12.91 seconds to earn an impressive eighth-place finish in the region.
The Irish also showcased their speed and teamwork in the 4×100-meter relay, where Jane Porter, Sariya Clayton, Joy King, and Sa’Marah Copeland combined to run a time of 50.46 seconds, placing seventh overall against a highly competitive field.
While the Irish did not advance to the state championships, reaching the regional stage is a significant accomplishment. By qualifying for and competing at regionals, these athletes finished among the top 24 competitors in Ohio in their respective events.
Congratulations to Jane, Sariya, Joy, Sa’Marah, and the entire Girls Track & Field program on an outstanding season filled with hard work, dedication, and success.
Go Irish!
