Irish Baseball Wins Against Benedictine

The Fighting Irish Baseball team improved to 5–3 on the season with a strong 6–2 comeback victory over Benedictine.

After falling behind 2–0 in the first inning, the Irish responded with resilience and timely hitting. They took control of the game by scoring three runs in the third inning, adding one in the fourth, and closing things out with two more in the seventh.

Offensively, Matthew Engelhart and Rylan Hurley each crossed the plate twice, while Alex Slone and Will Tober accounted for the remaining runs. Engelhart, Slone, Tober, and JJ Pytash each recorded an RBI, with Engelhart also delivering a triple to spark the Irish offense.

On the mound, the Irish used a two-pitcher combination to hold Benedictine in check. Will Tober earned the win, pitching five solid innings, while Aidan Reynolds closed the game with two innings of relief. Together, they combined for an impressive 2.00 ERA and held opponents to a .222 on-base average. Full game statistics can be found here.

They will then travel to Barnesville High School for a doubleheader against Keystone, with the opportunity to play an additional game depending on results.

Good luck to the Irish as they continue their season. Go Irish!
