The St. Vincent–St. Mary Fighting Irish Boys Basketball team earned a hard-fought victory over Archbishop Moeller at the Flyin’ to the Hoop Tournament held at Kettering High School.
The Irish battled a talented Moeller squad in a tightly contested matchup, ultimately securing a 46–42 win. The game was deadlocked at 22–22 at halftime, but St. Vincent–St. Mary responded with strong defensive play and timely scoring in the second half. The Irish outscored the Crusaders in both the third and fourth quarters to pull away late and seal the victory.
Senior Leigh Cotton led the Irish with an impressive performance, recording 18 points and 6 rebounds. Sophomore Aiden Reynolds also contributed offensively, adding 11 points in the win. With the victory, the Irish improve to 8–6 on the season.
The Irish face a challenging week ahead with matchups against Lutheran East and rival Archbishop Hoban. St. Vincent–St. Mary will travel to Cleveland on Tuesday, January 20, to take on Lutheran East in a tripleheader. The freshman game is scheduled for 4:30 PM, followed by junior varsity at 6:00 PM and varsity at 7:30 PM. On Friday, January 23, the Irish will square off against Archbishop Hoban at James A.
