The Fighting Irish Girls Basketball team delivered a dominant performance in the OHSAA Division III State Semifinal, defeating Unioto High School 84–38 at Wright State University. The Irish seized control from the opening tip and never looked back, pulling away early and maintaining their intensity throughout the game to secure their place in the state championship.
Leading the way was sophomore Sydney Ferguson, who scored a game-high 24 points. Junior Taylor Rogers-Williams added a strong presence in the paint with 14 points and 6 rebounds, while junior Melania Cornute contributed 13 points and 8 rebounds in another well-rounded performance for the Irish.
With the victory, the Irish advance to the state championship game, where they will face Chaminade Julienne Eagles of Dayton, Ohio. The Eagles advanced with a thrilling 62–57 win over Copley Indians. During their postseason run, Chaminade Julienne has defeated Tippecanoe Red Devils, Archbishop Carroll Patriots, and Copley.
The championship appearance marks a historic return for both programs. It will be the Irish’s first trip to the state final since 1995, while the Eagles last appeared in the championship game in 2005.
