Freshman Fighting Irish wrestler Nolan DeShon traveled to Virginia Beach this past weekend to compete in the 2026 NHSCA High School Wrestling Nationals, and delivered an outstanding performance on the national stage.
Competing in the 113-pound weight class, Nolan went 10-1 across eleven matches to earn a third-place finish and All-American honors. After dropping his opening match to Javen Russo of Georgia, Nolan responded in dominant fashion, rattling off ten consecutive wins to capture the consolation bracket title.
Along the way, he defeated wrestlers from across the country, including competitors from Ohio, Maryland, Colorado, South Carolina, Nevada, Georgia, Montana, Oklahoma, and Pennsylvania, proving himself against some of the nation’s top talent.
Nolan’s resilience, determination, and high-level performance reflect the standard of Fighting Irish wrestling. Congratulations to Nolan on an incredible accomplishment and for representing the Irish at one of the sport’s premier national events.
